1310nm Polarization Maintaining In-Line Manual Variable Optical Attenuator
The 1310nm Polarization Maintaining In-Line Manual Variable Optical Attenuator provides adjustable optical attenuation at 1310nm while maintaining polarization state using a screw-driven mechanism for continuous and repeatable control. It is built with PM1300 polarization maintaining fiber and features a maximum insertion loss of ≤0.5 dB, an attenuation range of 0.5–60 dB, and a minimum return loss of ≥50 dB for stable signal performance. The extinction ratio is ≥20 dB. The all-fiber in-line design requires no external power, allowing direct integration into polarization-sensitive fiber optic systems. The slow axis is aligned to the key by default, with fast axis or both axis options available. It supports a maximum continuous optical power of 500 mW and is suitable for laboratory testing, optical measurement, and polarization-sensitive applications.

FAQ
- Q: What is the difference between a polarization maintaining VOA and a standard VOA?
- A: A polarization maintaining variable optical attenuator (PM VOA) is designed to control optical power while preserving the polarization state of light. Unlike standard VOAs, which do not maintain polarization, PM VOAs use polarization maintaining fibers (such as PM780, PM980, PM1300, PM1550, etc.) to ensure stable polarization alignment. This makes them ideal for polarization-sensitive applications such as fiber lasers, interferometric systems, and optical sensing, where maintaining a high extinction ratio is critical.
Questions & Answers
Can the 1310nm PM VOA be customized for different axis alignment or connector types?
Yes, the 1310nm PM VOA can be customized to meet specific application requirements. In addition to the default slow axis alignment, fast axis or both-axis configurations are available upon request. Various connector types (such as FC/APC, FC/UPC, or bare fiber) can also be provided. Please contact our sales team for customization options and detailed specifications.
